Practical Information on the Course

1. Interactive Images

The Images used in this Course are interactive images made using thinglink.com.

Thinglink allows content creators to make interactive images with text (and other media) descriptions on the images, to help your learner acquire just in time information about the various sections within the images

If you wish to start making your own interactive Images later, all you will need to do is head over to thinglink.com and create your free account and you will be assisted via short and incisive video tutorials on how to create interactive images.

Using Interactive Images in this Course

The interactive images used in this Course have various icons spread on the various sections of the images. Hovering over the images with the mouse will show the icons on the image.

When you settle the cursor over one of the icons the description on the icon will appear. In some cases, the description of these icons will have an external link or a video attached to them.

Click on the links (such as ´Read More´, ´See More´ etc) that appear on the information in the icons to open the links with more description of the section of your image

Image and Media Editing with HTML

Image padding, vertical alignment, and other additional image beautification and embed settings were done using the HTML Editor.

Images from thinglink.com were uploaded to Canvas by copying the iframe share code in thinglink and pasting them in the specific section within the description in the HTML Editor.

2. Taking Screenshots

You may also want to take screenshots in your course creation process.

3. Video Upload

Video uploads to this Course were done Via Youtube, Vimeo, and Panopto. These upload links via Youtube and Panopto are available in the Rich Content editor in Canvas.

Panopto is the recommended video upload platform for VUB Canvas as it can store your videos both within Canvas and your VUB Panopto Portal.

Video upload via Panopto is discussed under 4.1.1. Assignment Submission Settings centering on how students can upload Exam Assignment Videos to Canvas using Panopto. Almost identical steps can be used to upload Video Content to Canvas inside the text Entry space provided by the Rich Content Editor.
